Did you know that women are exposed to an average of 180 chemicals on a day to day basis?
Alarming isn't it?
From your morning shower-shampoo, body wash, shaving cream, skincare routine, makeup, perfume,
so on and so forth- it all adds up.
The two primary concerning effects of harmful ingredients we are exposed to are:
endocrine (hormone) disrupters and carcinogens (cancer causing.)
And for those who say "a little doesn't hurt" or "it's the dose that makes the poison"...
Where do you draw the line?
When there is "a little" in most of the products someone uses throughout the day,
and unfortunately in our foods too,
at which point does the dose tip the scale?
And how many consumers are aware of what the ingredients in their products actually are?
Personally, I wouldn't want to knowingly contribute to a potential future illness if I can prevent it,
especially since having kids.
Unfortunately, the regulation of ingredients in the cosmetic industry is subpar, at best. And the regulations of the food industry are too, unfortunately comparable here.
As many of us know, it can take organizations many years to come around to terms with new scientific findings and publicly share that what we once thought to be safe- is no longer, and often correlated with common illnesses and diseases people live with day to day.
I want this page to serve as a hub- for you to come back to and reflect on the research I've come across regarding various ingredients and for you to come to your own conclusions on what you are comfortable using.
What some are comfortable using, others are not and vice versa.
At the end of the day, it is your decision to make.
I have partnered with a great company that is aware of the lack of regulation and subpar standards set in the cosmetics industry. They are aware of greenwashing, how frustrating it is as a consumer to be lied to and uninformed.
They're also aware of how everyone's body responds differently and avoid any ingredients that even though may be proven safe for the majority, that small percentage of people who may be affected are considered and such ingredients are avoided.
They set their own standards and they set them high!
If you are on the market for new skincare or makeup, i encourage you to consider them!
